The Chef
After graduating from Los Angeles Culinary Institute in 1996, Alejandro was taught personally by world famous chef Raimund Hofmeister (4 gold U.S. Culinary Olympic Medal winner, certified master chef) and Darrin Aoyama (World champion pastry chef, named 2005 pastry chef of the year).

Alejandro worked in several restaurants and hotels including the Ritz Carlton in Laguna Niguel, the Biltmore in Los Angeles, Houston's (Kitchen Manager), the Claim Jumper (Kitchen Manager), Wolf Gang Puck's Cafe Hollywood, to mention a few.

Alejandro went to open his own family style Cuban restaurant in Atwater Village, where he could cook the Cuban foods that he had growing up in his own house.

Baracoa Cuban Cafe was established in 2002, and has been enjoying a small following and a surprising success to date. We hope that you will visit us at Baracoa Cuban Cafe, and after visiting, we hope to have won you as a customer for life!
